Concerns

Margo Maley

This is on my mind today.

Please reach out to me. I really need to hear from you, so I can be a clear voice for your concerns, your ideas and even affirm the successes you have seen accomplished inside or outside of this community, so we can take note on what works. The possibilities are endless on what we can pursue to make our communities in Area C safer, more connected, and adhesive in strategic growth for our future and the environment in which we live.

I specifically see food security and locally supported supply chains need to be established.

We need to pursue revenue sharing on mining and forest resources with the province and for the loads of logs that travel through our town daily. Fort St James and rural areas need revenue to restore infrastructure and build better roads like regress routes in areas that have only way out when fire or disaster comes to their backdoor.

We need to take yearly inventory of equipment and establish supply chain for food, gas, hauled-water, with prepared trained locals to fight fires that flare up, until BC Wildfire is on site.  We need to propose fire fighting courses for locals that are paid for by available grant money and potential sponsor-ships in the area. My job is to go to bat for rural concerns but also partner with the town. We are community that needs to stick together, watch out for each other and work towards each others ability to prosper, meet the goals to live healthy in a sustainable environment that benefits the whole.

I would be honored to be an active voice, that would tirelessly search out answers to real concerns in the area and see them adequately addressed. May we excel on better rural health support, enhanced communication, faster emergency response and shared safety strategies. The condition of the North Road for emergency response with an ambulance that is built for a highway is a concern. I would pursue and propose that the upgrades conducted now would be followed up with a more stringent maintenance program. The washboard on this road makes it hazardous for all travellers while log trucks manage to hold their own because of weight and size. As locals who need to travel safely to homes, lakes and recreation sites, we are faced with dangerous roads that challenge the average vehicle. In acknowledgement of that, I trust there are enough funds with the industry revenues generated in the area to keep these roads in good repair.

In closing, I sincerely do have your best interests in mind. I advocate for strengthening agricultural growth and its diversity, to get product from ground to market, to encourage organic healthy living and helping neighbors to achieve the same. With the threat of fire in dry areas, I would advocate for training those interested in the rural areas in Fire Smart, chainsaw 101 courses, encourage support networks, and optimize entry to equipment operator courses so we can have a strong local skill set to diminish potential fire flare ups - until firefighting professionals arrive. I would shoulder great ideas for Regional Economic Development, support new strategic businesses and strengthen the achievement and growth goals of local ranchers and farmers who desire to be a strong food supply to feed the populace, - us!

Thank you for support, we can do this together. Sincerely, Margo

We need to stand together in these uncertain times.

United By A Common Goal

I believe the majority of BC constituents have one common goal, their goal to have a safe, secure family life, in complete freedom to live our lives with unlimited opportunities.  We all put our trust in those we have appointed to represent us in this government and to protect the sovereignty of BC, Northern BC and our country, Canada.
